Why is it that some POND FISH FOODS are so expensive compared to others? You know the old saying; you can pay now, or you can pay later! Well, this statement rings very true when it comes to selecting fish foods for your finned friends.
The cost of fish food simply boils down to the quality of the ingredients. Typically you will find that inexpensive foods sacrifice quality ingredients and simply add cheap filler ingredients like CORN FLOUR & CORN MEAL. Ultimately your fish are what they eat and by offering lower quality ingredients you are jeopardizing the health, well being and the balance of your pond in a couple of different ways.
If the food you offer your fish is made from the low grade ingredients, believe it or not, you are actually contributing to undesirable algae in your pond. These low end fish foods are often hard for your fish to digest and loaded with phosphates stimulating undesirable algae growth, which will lead to you spending more money on pond water treatments. Pay now or pay later, starting to make sense yet?
Food with low grade ingredients can cause fatty tumors in a very short period of time that end up suffocating your fish, causing poor appetite and in many cases cause premature death because these fatty tumors surround the fish's vital organs and literally choke them from the inside out! Do your fish always look pregnant? If so, you should consider a change in their diet, very quickly because it is very likely that your fish are not pregnant at all and really need to go on a diet, STAT!

Take These Fish Food and Nutrition Tips From My Pond Store...
Over feeding your pond is one of the largest CONTRIBUTORS to ponds that have out of control algae, poor water quality and unhealthy fish! You can feed your fish a few times a day if you are very conservative in your portions, have a good routine of adding beneficial bacteria to your pond and at least on occasion, perform partial water changes to your ecosystem.
Be very careful not to feed your fish more than they can consume in 3-5 minutes. Uneaten fish food that ends up in your skimmer, ultimately jeopardizes your water quality, provides fuel to undesirable algae, and ends up in your filtration system creating more maintenance for you! Feed the fish not the Pond!
When water temperatures drop into the 60's switch to My Pond Store Brand Cold Temperature Formula Fish food and seal your summer variety fish food up and toss it in the freeze to keep it fresh for next year! REMEMBER; stop feeding when water temperatures are between 50 and 55 degrees so that your fish don't go down for hibernation with a full belly!
Pro-Biotic fortified is a fancy way of saying our fish food has beneficial bacteria added to it! The Koi or Goldfish eat our food fortified with beneficial bacteria and as the food passes through the fish and into your pond, the fish waste will be fortified with beneficial pond bacteria!
It takes a couple of days for the beneficial bacteria to reconstitute, ultimately wake up and of course has already been passed through the fish! When the bacteria wakes up it is actually inside the fish waste laying on the bottom of your pond or in your filter system! This is a tricky way of using beneficial bacteria to eat up the pond muck in your pond's ecosystem! It' a dirty job but someone has to do it!
